EndNote: Sharing Libraries

How to use EndNote software to save, manage, and print citation information within your papers.

How to share a library in Endnote X7

In the updated Endnote X7 you can

  • You can include anyone who’s using EndNote X7 (up to 14 people, plus yourself)
  • Share your entire EndNote library, including references, PDFs, and annotations
  • Everyone can add to, annotate and use the library – at the same time
  • There’s no charge for sharing, no library size limit and no charge for unlimited cloud storage

Since sharing relies on the Endnote sync services, you must first set up your EndNote web account and fully sync your library before you can share.

Once this is done, go to File > Share and enter the email addresses of the people you want to share with (up to 14 people total).

Sync times can vary depending on the size of your library. Be sure to check the Sync Status, located in the My Library panel, to make sure your library is fully synced before sharing.
