Elements: HELP

A guide to setting up and maintaining Elements profiles

FAQs

What is Elements?

Elements is a website that allows you to track your scholarly output. It is also used for maintaining your external faculty profile. Elements also allows you to showcase your research interests, awards, and media appearances.

Who do I contact if I'm having problems with Elements?

You can contact Katie or Tom in the library. They are happy to help with Elements issues.

How do I update my research keywords?

Katie maintains the list of keywords. If you email her, she can add the additional terms to the main list and tag your profile with them.

What if I can't find some of my publications?

You can start by making sure that your name based search settings are correct. There is a page on this LibGuide with instructions to the name-based search function. If, after re-running your search, your publications have not appeared, you can next check if your publication is listed as pending. If it is listed as pending, but you are sure that it is yours, you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the green check mark next to your name. This will claim the publication for you.

If you still can't find your publication, you can add it manually. please see the page of this LibGuide about manual claiming for instructions on how to manually add your publication to your Elements page. However, before you get to this step, please contact either Katie or Tom in the library to help.

I've modified my search settings, and it still really can not find all of my publications. What do I do?

At this point, we would recommend contacting the library. We may be able to assist with your search terms, or we can show you how to upload publications manually.

How do I edit my profile?

Begin by navigating to the home page. From there click on the bubble that says "Edit my profile". From there, you can make any changes needed to your profile. Remember to click save when you have finished editing a field.
