Elements: Resources for Sci Admins

A guide to setting up and maintaining Elements profiles

Overview

This part of the guide is for Scientific Administrative Professionals who might be updating a faculty profile.

Impersonating a PI as a Delegate

You should be set up as a Delegate for your faculty members. If you have issues following this guide or think you have not been assigned as a delegate in the Elements system, please reach out to the author of this guide.

Step 1. Navigate to elements.cshl.edu and log in using your CSHL username and password.

Step 2. The system will bring you to your own home page. In order to update a faculty member's page, you must impersonate them. To do this, click the button in the top panel that has two people and a magnifying glass.

Step 3. Type in the name of the faculty you want to impersonate. You will only be able to do this for your assigned faculty. Click the name under "Select a user to manage their data".

Step 4. You will then be taken to the Faculty member's home page and you can update/modify their page accordingly. You will know that you are impersonating the person because of the banner at the top. Click the "X" in this banner to stop impersonating the faculty member. For assistance on updating specific parts of the profile, please see other parts of this guide.

Selected Publications

Researchers can choose up to 5 publications to display at the top of the Publications page of their Faculty Profile and Faculty Page.

Step 1. Click the "Publications" on the faculty member's elements home page.

Step 2. Find a paper that you want to appear in the "Selected Papers" list and click the little heart icon.

Step 3. Repeat this process for up to 5 papers. They will then appear at the top of the publication list for both the Faculty Page and Faculty Profile.
