A guide to setting up and maintaining Elements profiles

Purpose

This guide is designed to help anyone tasked with generating or maintaining CSHL Elements Faculty Profiles.

If you are having issues please contact Tom or Katie in the library as your first points of contact.

Symplectic has a slack workspace that you can join. It doesn't seem to be well used, but people seem very friendly whenever anyone has a question.

Conventions

  1. When listing the dates of appointments, or of degree conferrals only use the year in the format YYYY. This will keep entries the most consistent from user to user. 
  2. Order appointments & educational entries in reverse chronological order.
  3. Be sure to include periods when listing degrees: Ph.D. not PhD. 
  4. To confirm a faculty member's rank check against the faces database in the intranet. It will be the most current and accurate as it is pulled directly from HR. 
  5. Address convention: When listing addresses be sure that the format is Institution, City, Country. That is all the information that is needed.
  6. The format for phone numbers is as follows: ###-###-####
