There are a number of different databases available to determine how many times an article has been cited by other articles.
Both ISI Web of Knowledge and Scopus can be used to find this information.
Below we will provide instructions on how to use both databases to gather this information
Go to the Library webpage
Select Resources then Databases
Click on SciVerse Scopus
Open to the front page of Scopus, click on Document Search, type or paste the title of the article into the search box and select Article Title from the drop down menu in the right box and then click Search
From the record screen click Cited by to give a list of all the papers, and their authors, that have cited this paper
The Cited by page gives you all the details of the papers that have cited the paper you are interested
Now you have the total number of times that this particular paper was cited as well as the details for the papers that cited it.
