General Description

This guide explains what a unique author identifier is and provides examples of unique author identifier systems in current use, such as ResearcherID and ORCID. It also provides links to various unique author identifier systems and related resources.

 

Scope

This guide considers unique author identifier systems that are applicable to researchers in the U.S. This includes international systems that transcend geographic and national boundaries, but excludes country-specific systems, such as the Digital Author Identifier (DAI) system for Dutch universities and research institutes.
